# Hive setup (instructions for coding agents)

Hive is a shared Roblox-development knowledge vault served at https://hive.rne.lol.
Your user gave you this URL and a personal access key (starts with `hive_`).

## Install (macOS, Linux, WSL, Git Bash)

Requirements: `curl`, `bash`, `python3`. Run, substituting the key:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://hive.rne.lol/install.sh | bash -s -- --key 'hive_...'
```

The installer sets up whichever of Claude Code and Codex is present:

- the `hive` MCP server (authenticated with the key),
- the `hive` skill (how to read/write the vault) and the `hive-harvest` skill
  (document everything learned in a session),
- a SessionStart hook that loads the vault map and this game's notes into every
  session in a Roblox repo, a Stop hook that occasionally reminds you to record
  learnings, and automatic client updates,
- a short block in the global `CLAUDE.md` / `AGENTS.md` (in case hooks are off).

## After installing

1. Show the user the installer's summary.
2. Tell the user to start a new Claude Code / Codex session. **Codex asks to
   trust the new hooks on first launch; approve them.**
3. In each Roblox game repository, create `.hive.json` at the repo root:
   `{"project": "<game-slug>"}` (lowercase kebab-case, ask the user; reuse the
   slug if the game already exists in hive). Commit it.

Never write the key into notes, commits, or project files. To remove: run the
installer with `--uninstall`.
